June Favourites 2014

I decided that this month I would pick my top 6 favourites of the month so it wouldn’t be long.

1. Bath and Body Works candle in the scent Peach Bellini
2. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in the shade 120
3. Elf Studio Powder brush
4. Essence Stay Matt with me in my favourite milkshake
5. Revlon Colour Stay in the normal/dry skin formula in the shade buff
6. Spa Resource Pro Series Precision Pore Cleansing Pad

1. Peach Bellini Candle
I purchased this during the semi annual sale for $12CAD but regularly it’s $22CAD. I’m in love with the scent! It has such a summer smell to it and quickly fills the room with it. It’s a long lasting smell that I guarantee lasts. On the website it claims that it is a delicious twist to juicy peach, white apricot and fresh mango. You get 411g of product. Overall I just love this candle and every year I repurchase it.

2. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
I picked up this foundation because it was one of the most affordable foundations I could find (aside from wet n wild & NYC). This foundation was roughly $8CAD and comes with 30 mL of product, the standard so it seems. It comes in the rectangular glass packaging with an SPF 18. I personally love this product because I find it perfect for the summer when I don’t want to wear a fu coverage foundation. I would say it’s a light coverage foundation that’s buildable to a semi medium coverage. This is obviously not a foundation to conceal acne but to conceal redness and even out the skin tone which is what I look for during the summer. I also found it lasts me from 6 hours to 8 hours depending completely on what I was doing.

3. Elf Studio Powder Brush
This bad boy was only $4CAD without the taxes at target. I’m completely in love with this brush and it’s the only one I’ve been reaching for the past month. I love how my foundation looks with this product and definitely recommend for those who don’t have it to give it a try!

4. Essence Stay Matt With Me in my favourite milkshake
I purchased this product at shoppers drugmart for around $2.99CAD I believe. The product itself lacks pigmentation and it does had a scent to it that could bother others. The lasting power also isn’t that great

It had one of those curved fuzzy applicators but I like the shape. As you can see it’s a pinky colour that falls to stay within your lips most of the time and lacks pigmentation. The reason this has been in my favourites is because of been pairing this up with other lip products. It gives it a slight pink glossy look. Aside from pairing it I wouldn’t recommend to buy it just to use it on it’s own.

5. Revlon Colour Stay Foundation
I picked up the normal/dry skin formula by accident for $15CAD but I’ve still been using it. Unfortunately due to the sun I am no longer the right shade I have to go darker but when I used it at the beginning of June I feel in love. It comes in this cylinder glass packaging with no pump and 30 mL of product. It gives me full coverage and conceals my acne very well. Unfortunately it feels a bit thick for my skin so I’m not using it but once it cools down I’ll gladly use it

On the left maybelline fit me foundation and the right revlon colourstay

6. Spa Resource Pore cleansing Pad
I purchased this at walmart for $1.50CAD and I’ve been using it ever since ! It helps deep clean my pore from any makeup residue or oils from my face. I’ve seen a noticeable different in the acne of my face since I started using this product and for only $1.50 I’ll take it ! I think they might have raised the price to $2.00 but hey it’s only 50 cents.

So that concludes my June favourites! I hope you guys had a good month. See you next time!

Victoria Secret Wallet Pouch With Keychain

I am hands down I coin hoarder so when I stumbled onto this while watching a what’s in my bag video I almost died and immediately searched the web for it! It’s such a cute wallet pouch and I knew it had to be mine. VS is having their semi annual sale while trying to get rid of their makeup, clothing and all those other things so everything was scattered. I had tried looking online but they didn’t have it so if you want to purchase this you’ll most likely have to go in store.

It has a gold keychain that I personally use for helping hold the wallet pouch. This pouch fits my iPhone 5 comfortably but I have to put in one side first. I unfortunately don’t have the exact measurements but think of it being a bit wider than an iPhone and approximately the same length.

There are no pockets in the pouch and as you can see there is more than enough space for my coins. The zipper works great and isn’t choppy which is a plus. The gold chain is also decently long.

On the front it says Victoria secret. As you can see it has a snakeskin kind of design to it and feels like pleather. I believe that there’s only 2 colours, this hot pink and a coral colour. This was around $10 CAD so if you’re looking for a wallet pouch I definitely recommend this👌

VS Sport Incredible by Victoria’s Secret Sport Bra

It’s been roughly a year, maybe a little more since Victoria Secret was first opened in my city which was awesome because I’m not the biggest fan of La Senza bras but at the time it was the only place I could purchase bras. I was super excited to go to VS but when I saw the prices I must admit my heart dropped a bit.

Please excuse the state of my bra, it had disappeared for a while. Moving on the price starts at $49 CAD to $59 CAD for this specific design but I believe the prices depend on the design of the bra itself and of course the size. I’m naturally big chested and of course once again I had a heart attack when I saw the price for my size which was $59 with taxes was roughly $67.

This bra falls under the maximum support category which is just what I need. As you can see it’s a racer back bra which I feel truly helps support everything. The sports bra itself is absolutely amazing ! I am so impressed and I do feel that it is truly the best sports bra I’ve ever tried! I hate when sports bra come in the small, medium & large sizes because there is no way they can cater to every girls size while trying to support. This bra I personally feel helps absorb all that sweat that comes with working out. I truly believe that this is the best!

When I run, whether it’s on the treadmill or the elliptical it controls the bouncing completely ! Of course there is a little bounce but nothing that hurts the girls. This is seriously a life saviour ! I totally recommend for people to get. There is also a nice cushion on the wired inside part of the bra to add comfort. The only bad that I can think of (aside from the price) is my shoulder blades started to hurt from wearing this for a long time because it has a tighter fit then a normal bra in order to help the bounce of the girls. I believe their biggest size is 38DDD so those girls who have a bigger size won’t be able to get one

The Good:
• Has a cushion part where the wire is
• Helps absorbs sweat
• Controls the bounce
• Super comfortable to wear
• Comes in a variety of colours

The Bad:
• THE PRICE ! I’m a completely broke student so it kills me when I have to go pay for it at the cashier
• Doesn’t have bigger sizes
• Noticeable pain between shoulder blades but for everyday for 2 hours or so it’s perfect

I am absolutely in love with this sports bra and I have searched high and low for one that works perfect so I definitely recommend it. I’d also repurchase this even though it hurts my wallet when I do.

Sephora Beauty Insider Make Up For Ever Birthday Gift

Hey everyone! I recently went to sephora and I manage to snag this gift for my birthday from Sephora. If you’re the second level and third level Sephora member you get an additional item but I’m not so I got these two goodies which I was perfectly fine with. It comes in this adorable little plastic box with this years birthday brand: Make Up For Ever. Last year it was Benefit that came with their highlight and they’re real mascara.

This year you get a mini size of the Smokey Extravagant mascara and their Rouge Artist Natural N9 lipstick in Copper Pink. The box claims that the mascara gives you extravagant volume and that the lipstick is a moisturizing self shine lipstick.

You get 0.13 oz of product from the mascara vs the mini which comes with 0.16 oz of product and retails for $14.00 CAD at Sephora. The full size product retails for $28.00 CAD and comes with 0.23 oz of product. So overall your just getting under 0.3oz less than the mini but I don’t mind. The wand itself starts thin at the tip and widens. I haven’t opened the mascara because I have to use up some more that I have but once I do I’ll write a review.

The lipstick is in Copper Pink and comes with 0.05 oz of product vs the full size that comes with 0.12 oz and retails for $23.00 CAD at Sephora. You’re getting a little less than half which isn’t bad at all.

Like I said it’s part of the Rouge Artist Natural collection in Copper Pink. The packaging is a nice sleek black with some shine to it, that’s made out of plastic. It’s nothing to droll over it’s just a classic packaging.

Here’s a swatch of the lipstick. I rarely ever wear lipstick so this is a first impressions kind of deal but the smell of it reminded me of when I was little and my mother would put on her lipstick. It’s a very pigmented colour but with no light appears redish brown. Personally I think it’s a muted down pink with some brown thrown in there.

What I like about this lipstick is that it has a nice, more on the thinner side formula so it doesn’t dry out my lips. It also doesn’t feather out or cling on to any chapped spots on my lips. Whether it’s moisturizing or not that’s up for debate and requires more usage.

Overall I did enjoy this lipstick. The colour is something I would not gravitate towards on a regular basis but I think it gives a more sophisticated and older look. I’ll be sure to review it fully when I have a chance to play with it some more. Until next time !

ELF Studio Golden Bronzer Review

I was super excited when ELF cosmetics announced it would be available in Target Canada’s so naturally I ran to target to pick up some goodies. I was kind of disappointed to see that there wasn’t much of a variety. One of the items I picked up was this ELF studio golden bronzer. The product comes in this cardboard box. There are 4 different squares with 4 different shades. I guess you could look at it as 5 bronzers.

For $4.00 CAD you get 15g of product which is pretty good. Once I read the back ‘shimmering powder’ red flags went up. On the ELF website it’s under bronzers so imagine my surprise when I swatched them.

Side tracking for just a moment this bronzer comes in a plastic Matt black container with a very large mirror. As you can see from the picture it picks up traces from any product and your fingertips. The packaging feels cheap but didn’t expect it to be wonderful for $4.

So here’s a look at the bronzer. I have to say that I am extremely disappointed and this is definitely a miss for ELF. By no means is this a bronzer, I’m usually the second to third lightest shade in foundations and all I could pick up was shimmer on my face. I believe that there are 2-3 other colours to pick from.

Sorry for the awful lighting! I found it incredibly hard to pick up the colour and I had to really dig at it. I tried applying this and oh my lord did I regret it. It’s like a disco ball bursted on my face. This is definitely not a bronzer at all. I tried to use this as eyeshadow and once again another fail. The colours are very nice but it’s lasting power not so much after 3 hours I noticed fading even after using a base and a primer.

I used a primer in this picture and yes I realize that this is not suppose to be an eyeshadow palette but I wanted to find an alternative way of using this aside from a highlight but proved unsuccessful. I would definitely skip out on this product.

The Good:
• inexpensive
• nice size mirror
• thin packaging
• have the option of using this as a highlight

The Bad:
• it’s not a bronzer it’s just a palette of shimmer
• only available at target, at least in Canada
• isn’t pigmented at all
• bad lasting power so can’t even use it as eyeshadows

Would not repurchase and I don’t recommend this

Essence Stay Matte Lip Cream in Velvet Rose Review

Hey there guys! I love essence it’s such an affordable brand so I decided to pick up this essence stay Matt lip cream. As you can see it’s in the shade velvet rose and there are 2 more shades in the lip cream formula.

The lip cream comes in this rounded plastic tube and was purchased at shoppers drugmart for $2.99 CAD. This tube comes with 4 mL of product.

Right off the bat I can tell you that my first impression was like oh no, this is going to be a very thick formula that’s drying. I was right! Don’t get me wrong for $2.99 CAD it’s really pigmented.

So here’s the swatch, sorry about the lighting! Anyway it’s super pigmented and like I had predicted thick as well. It also goes on matt. After eating and drinking it was still visible on my lips. I found that I got a decent 3 1/2 hours of wear before I noticed any fading which I really liked. When applied to the lips I felt like it absorbed all the moisture out of my lips ! It’s such a drying formula that any chapped lips would be visible from a distance.

As you can see in the picture it just clumps up. It gets even worse after the 2 hour mark. It completely dries and leaves a rough texture to the lips, as if you have flakes of it. Which is definitely a no no in my books. Even when I primed my lips I found it still left a very noticeable dryness to the lips that even my BF commented on. Needless to say I will not be repurchasing this shade. As for the two shades I’m not sure if I would repurchase them.

The Good:
• it’s very affordable
• very pigmented
• decently long lasting
• still present after drinking and eating
• has a candy smell to it

The Bad:
• very drying to lips
• only available at shoppers in Canada
• leaves a flaky feeling to the lips
• highlights the fine lines and chapped lips

Would I repurchase: no

Do I recommend: Not this shade unless you’re willing to work with it
